"Advise-You-What-To-Do" Investment Advice

BeAdvised_-_Web_SmallIf you enjoy managing your account, and would simply like a professional second opinion, BeAdvised is the right tool for you. It provides investors that want to manage their 401(k) themselves the ability to be informed of how and when we would advise you to make adjustments, but it is up to you to make the changes yourself.

  • Ongoing, Proactive Investment Advice - If a change needs to be made, our dedicated research staff (all investment managers, not financial advisors or brokers) will advise you of the necessary changes by email. On average, we advise 2-5 times per year to your portfolio, using the funds available in your 401(k) plan, so there is no moving your account.

  • Proactive, Personal Updates - You do not just hand over the keys to your nest egg, we also keep you informed of the happenings in your account so you can maintain responsibility over the management of your 401(k). On average, we proactively communicate with you (you don't need to call us) 4-6 times per year.

  • Personal Annual Review - At the end of the year, we provide you a personal review of your portfolio's returns and "make-up" so you know what is happening but without having to be intimately involved.

  • Individualized Investment Policy Statement (IPS) - We manage your portfolio specific to a level of risk that you ALWAYS control. We then outline the criteria by which we will manage your portfolio, specific to that level of risk. You will be able to see the minimums and maximums for each of the following asset classes: US Stocks, International Stocks, Fixed Income, and Cash. Additionally, we provide you a Before and After report of portfolio, so you can see the different ingredients (investment options) and investment recipe (asset allocation) being used in your portfolio. NOTE: BeAdvised clients must make the recommended changes before we are able to send the IPS due to the Before and After portfolio analysis.

  • What is a Fiduciary? As an investment fiduciary we are legally bound not to accept monies or rewards that in any way compromise the advice or management we provide for our clients. We are 100% independent and unbiased because we do not accept any revenue from investment or insurance companies, which allows us to always act in our clients' best interests, not our own.

Special Note to BeAdvised Clients

  • Value - Advice is just like an attorney's or accountant's, you must put into action for it to have value.

  • Familiarity of Trading - If you are not familiar with how to make adjustments to your 401(k) account using your existing 401(k) plan, you should instead opt for the BeManaged program. We have noticed that due to mutual fund redemption fees, we often save our clients money by avoiding most of them. Just as we do not know the particular specifics of your job, we do not expect you to know ours, so leave those to us.

  • Familiarity of Trading II - As alluded to in the previous point, BeAdvised does not provide specific trading instructions on how to transact the changes on your company's 401(k) provider's website , instead we simply demonstrate where you are, and where you need to be specific to the investment options in your plan.

  • Take the Emotion Out of Investing - It's your money, and thus you have earned it. However, that typically means you have an emotional attachment to it as well. Studies show this is NOT a good thing. Therefore, we have seen BeAdvised clients take an emotional approach to our advice, and unfortunately that ends up bad for them. They do not make the adjustments when they should, and the cost to them can be painful. Putting it in our hands, we act as a fiduciary for you, meaning we have a legal obligation to do what is in your best interest.
